The Town of Irmo was presented the 2008 Heritage Tree Award from the South Carolina Urban & Community Forestry Council on Thursday, April 2nd in the town’s park.

The 125 year old white oak that presides over the town’s park was protected during the construction of the park. “We had a few problems to work,” said Whit Cline, Irmo Public Services Director. “The results are an extremely well cared for focal point for the park.”

Danny Burbage, President of SC Urban & Community Forestry Council, presented the award to town council.

South Carolina’s Heritage Trees program was developed in 2004 as a way to identify, celebrate and recognize remarkable trees that evoke community spirit in the state. Nominees can be trees with special historical or cultural significance or a tree that is nominated by the community. All trees must be located on public property. The town park was built in 2000 by The Clearwater Company.

We love our Clearwater pool. From the planning and design stage, through construction and customer service, The Clearwater Company exceeded our expectations. If we ever need to build another pool, they will be who we call.
